Leominster Public Library

Back when I first started doing these workshops sometime around 1999 Leominster was my very first attempt, so it holds a special place for me.

Since that time I've been back several times-- in fact I think annually and I've been with them through moves, remodels and finally back to the beautiful restored building on West Street.

Librarians Ed and Diane have done an outstanding job of creating a fun exciting place for teens with their Manga room-- and we often mention this particular library whenever someone asks us how to get kids into reading. It's a model that other libraries should look to and the Teen room is so cool I would have spent my mispent youth there and maybe not gotten into so much trouble.

The library has a meeting room which is where they set up our workshops and the students are provided with pencils and paper to follow along. At the end of the workshop they hold a raffle for a sketchbook and art pencils.

In my travels all over the state I've gotten the chance to see some amazing libraries and meet some great people that I look forward to seeing every year-- Leominster is definitely at the very top of that list.
